The Residency Program

The LBIF’s Ceramic Residency program allows potters the opportunity to work in a communal studio space. Residents are assigned a dedicated wheel or handbuilding space, as well as storage space in the studio spanning the summer or winter months. If you are interested in ceramics or the residency programs, email ceramics@lbifoundation.org

Drop - In Ceramics

Saturdays: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Fees:

Drop-in Ceramics: $35 (Members receive 10% discount)

Fire Me Up: $15+ cost of piece (Members only pay for cost of piece)

Ages 13 and up (Under 13 yrs requires parent/guardian)

Just come on over! Join us for a relaxed, creative environment on Saturdays. Those interested in ceramics can crop by and learn the basics of wheel throwing and/or hand building. We also have pre-made ceramic items and you can choose to paint at your own pace. We have mugs, bowls, boxes, figurines, and much more! Drop-in’s are perfect for a day out with your family, trying something new with friends, rainy days, and expanding your interest in the arts.

Private Lessons

Why not make a birthday or anniversary even more special with a private session? Handbuilding projects or smaller groups on the wheel can be scheduled in advance with LBIF, or improve your pottery skills with a one-on-one private lesson focusing on specific areas. In this 5-week class every Monday, join a member of the LBIF staff as they walk you through the basics of thrown pottery. You will be guided in throwing, trimming and glazing clay in a relaxed, creative environment. Enjoy a laid-back approach to learning how to throw on the wheel. Bring a towel and wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Close-toed shoes are also recommended.

Hone in your ceramic skills in this 5-week class every Tuesday. A directed studio environment where ideas and challenges are brought to the table and problem solved. Demos and lectures are provided as needed. The goal of this class is to make your ceramic visions a reality. The class is taught by our ceramic studio manager, Jeff.

Ceramics: Visiting Artist Week with Celia Feldberg

In this workshop you will be making wheel thrown vessels and decorating them using techniques like sgraffito, inlay, monoprinting, and underglaze painting. Feldberg will demonstrate how she moves through her process of making and drawing on pottery--sharing tips for efficiency and confidence. You will learn ways to create engaging surfaces that are narrative and evoke feeling. Bisque only.
