In conjunction with our PLATES, PLATERS, AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS Exhibition, Arizona State University (ASU) Art Museum Curator of Ceramics Garth Johnson will talk about the art world’s current relationship with ceramics. After years of ignoring clay, it seems like every blue-chip gallery is championing a ceramist. Johnson will talk about recent trends in the field, including materiality, identity, performance, and social engagement. He will also give a brief overview of ASU’s dazzling ceramics collection.
