Often getting started is the most daunting part of any personal artistic expression. Express yourself and find your voice through the form and medium of functional pottery. Accentuate that expression through decoration, while embracing play, process and practice. Lisa will cover, in depth, her characteristic soft-slab construction, slip application (wet brush, dry brush, etc.) and finally, decoration including mark-making as well as the use and placement of images on pots. Learn to design darts so that cutting and mending yields personal forms, a fine tool to have in any handbuilder’s or thrower’s practice. Engaging conversations around cultivating creativity are bound to ensue.

Lisa Naples works and teaches from her barn in Doylestown, PA. She received her MFA from NSCAD. In 2014 Ceramic Arts Daily released two videos on her work and process. In 2012 she was awarded the Ceramics Prize at the PMA Craft Show. In 2010 she won Best of Philly and was featured in the book Masters: Earthenware. Select exhibitions include: Michener Art Museum, Smithsonian and Philadelphia Museum of Art craft shows. She has lectured and given workshops around the U.S. and Australia, which fundamentally changed her studio life.
