COMX

Comic books, with their historic humble beginning in the early 20th century, are one of the most important and influential mediums today and have matured into works of art, literature, and cultural significance in their own right. As an ingrained part of our cultural lexicon, the characters, conventions, art, and language of comic books are everywhere; from film and entertainment, advertising, illustration and  design, to political discourse. The comic book or graphic novel has provided an intriguing and entertaining look at trends in pop culture worldwide. Aspects of this powerful medium are the subject of a growing field of scholarship; from the styles of graphic design and imagery, to the written word, to the evolution of the super-hero. This exhibition will celebrate the work of more than 20 artists whose work captures the essence of what is comic.

Check out the COMX Coloring Book, an accompanying exhibit guide featuring original artwork from the participating artists. Great for kids!
