V. Shayne Frederick and Ella Gahnt are a dynamic vocal duo who will sing, swing, and scat you right out of your seats! You will be mesmerized by V. Shayne’s three octave range and Ella’s power to deliver a lyric accompanied by this powerhouse duo. V. Shayne Frederick is a pianist, vocalist, arranger and musical director with over a decade of stunning performances. Ella Gahnt is a Phillybased jazz vocalist who has been dubbed “Philly’s Class Act” by local media and fans.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

V. Shayne Frederick is a pianist, vocalist, arranger and musical director with over a decade of stunning performance. He has been featured at such illustrious venues as the historic Minton’s Harlem, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Barnes Foundation, SugarHouse Casino, Suzanne Roberts Theater, Resorts Casino, Valley Forge Casino, Philadelphia Clef Club for Performing Arts, South Jazz Parlor, World Café Live, Kelsey’s Supper Club in Atlantic City, and the African-American Museum in Philadelphia.

He has also been featured in the John Coltrane Jazz Festival, Center City Jazz Festival, Lancaster Avenue Jazz and Arts Festival, and the Piton International Film Festival in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Cited by the Broad Street Review as “one of the region’s busiest and best jazz singers,” and by All About Jazz as “one to watch” and a “shining light,” V. Shayne’s singular voice—with its dulcet texture and substantial range—has a classic appeal with a bright, innovative flair. This is V. Shayne’s second appearance at the Uptown!

ELLA GAHNT is a Philly-based Jazz vocalist who has been dubbed “Philly’s Class Act” by local media and fans, and most recently voted Philly’s Jazz Vocalist of the Year award. She has “wowed” audiences at most of the areas major venues including The Kimmel Center, The West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, The Philadelphia Museum of Art “Art After Five” Series, The Painted Bride Art Center, The Michener Art Museum inDoylestown, The Mellon Jazz Festival, The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts, Afro-American Museum’s “Jazz Till Sunrise” Festival, The Morrisville Jazz Festival, and the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival.

Ella tells musical stories in her own unique way while honoring the vocal legacy of Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Carmen McCrae, Betty Carter and Ella Fitzgerald. Her 2 CDs “Immaculate Union” and “By Request” are currently in rotation on Philly’s Jazz Station WRTI-FM. Her 3rd CD entitled “Third Stage Of Elegance” which showcases her songwriting abilities.
