OCTOBER 17: Effective Communication for Climate Change

Presenter: Ashwani Vasishth, Associate Professor in Sustainability, Convener of the Undergraduate Sustainability Program, Ramapo College of New Jersey

This presentation will focus on effective communication for climate change- how to talk about climate change in ways that are both persuasive and effective. In the first part, you will learn what you need to know to understand climate change phenomena. In the second part, you will learn how to talk about climate change in ways that promote effective action. And in the third part, you will understand what can be done to mitigate climate change and move us toward a future that stays below a 1.5 degree Centigrade rise in global mean temperature.

ABOUT: Ashwani Vasishth

Ashwani Vasishth is Associate Professor in Sustainability, Convener of the undergraduate Sustainability Program (BA), and Director of the Center for Sustainability at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is President of the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS). He is part of the Environmental Studies Major, and is a faculty member in both South India and Peru Study Abroad Convening Groups. His pedagogy is fosused on Education for Sustainability from within a transdisciplinary framework, always taking a scale-hierarchic ecoystem approach to complexity, and within the context of a globalizing International Sustainable Development paradigm.
