Dreaming about writing for younger readers, but don’t know how or where to begin? This workshop is designed to offer an overview of the field. Discover what makes a good story by focusing on the issues and craft of writing for different ages and stages of young readers – from picture books through young adult.
The course includes information on character, plot, description, and dialogue as related to the age of your reader. You will also get practical tips on how to get your manuscript in shape for submission, how to write a query letter or proposal, and how to pitch to an agent or editor. Current and future publishing trends, as well as decisions about publishing options, will be discussed. Working manuscripts, story ideas, and questions are encouraged. Prompts and handouts are included. The workshop is interactive. Writers of all ages are welcome.
