Evan Zodl

Origami Artist

Evan Zodl is a local origami instructor and teaches at the Ocean County Library and the Tuckerton Seaport. His online instructional videos on YouTube have taught thousands of people how to fold paper. Evan’s original designs, some of which have been published, have traveled the country in the Origami by Children exhibition.

Yvonne Yaar

Interior Designer & Artist

Yvonne Yaar has a BS from Indiana University in interior design and is a full-time studio artist with a passion for glass. In 2009, the Monmouth Museum named Yvonne a “NJ Emerging Artist,” an honor given to only a few artists each year in the state of New Jersey.

Karen Smith

Artist & Painter

Karen Smith has a BFA from Moore College of Art and is an adjunct professor at Artworks, Trenton; Paul Robeson Art Center, Princeton; PAS, Princeton; Studio Classroom, Pemberton; and LBIF. She is a freelance artist and painter with three decades of experience working for a major NYC design firm and exhibiting her art.

Tom Scangarello

Culinary Master

Tom Scangarello, a resident of LBI for 30 years, is a member of the James Beard Foundation and has given cooking demonstrations at the LBIF for years.

Lydia Owens

Artist

Lydia Owens earned her BA in studio art with a concentration in printmaking from Montclair State University. Her relationship with the LBIF began when she became a volunteer while she was still in college. Dayna Otto

Photographer & Artist

Dayna Otto received an MA in education from Queens College and a BFA from SUNY at Purchase. She is the owner and photographer of Creatively Yours, which is celebrating 14 years. Dayna has been a faculty member at LBIF for 18 years.

Richard Morgan

Writer & Poet

Richard Morgan has been writing poetry for 50 years. In 2009 he and his wife, artist Pat Morgan, retired to New Jersey’s Long Beach Island, where wind and waves inspire his writing. Rita Kostopoulos

Teacher

Rita Kostopoulos received her MA from Montclair State University and taught in the Paramus Public Schools for 38 years. Rita is certified in Italian, Spanish, and French. She was the recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and The New Jersey Language Teachers Award.
