SUMMARY:2-Day Portraiture with Edgar Jerins: Session Two
DESCRIPTION:TAKE A MASTER CLASS\nTwo-Day Portraiture Workshop with Edgar
  Jerins: SESSION TWO\nDates Monday\, July 13 + Tuesday\, July 14\nTime
 1:00pm – 4:00pm \nFee $60 for two-day session\nJoin us for a portrai
t workshop\, taught by award winning portrait artist Edgar Jerins. This
two-day workshop\, now being offered with a morning or afternoon session
\, will focus on capturing a likeness by understanding the proper placem
ent of features\, likeness and shading. Day one will include an artist
demonstration on the proportions of the face\, along with light\, shado
w\, and life drawing skills. Day two will focus on artists refining th
eir drawings\, rendering hair\, and adding color if they choose. Materia
l of choice is welcome\; drawing is preferred. All skill levels welcome\
, from beginner to advanced. Bring your own art supplies.\nBIO\nEdgar Je
rins began his training as an artist at age 14. By 18 he won a scholarsh
ip to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. At the time
of his graduation in 1980\, Jerins had won several of the school’s aw
ards. That same year\, he won the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Gran
t\, an international award for Realist artists. The grant enabled Jerins
to travel to Los Angeles where he continued to perfect his exacting rea
lism\, often as portraits in oil pastel. Edgar Jerins looks deep into th
e struggling souls of troubled people\; he lays bare their uneasy relati
onships and harnesses their despair into sublime works of art. The subje
cts of Edgar Jerins’ monumental charcoal drawings\, some over eight fe
et in width\, are often his friends and relatives—people whose lives t
 ouch the artist directly.
