 In this Master Class\, participants will explore the traditional art of 
 Eastern brush painting\, focusing on expressive brushwork\, balance\, an
 d the harmony between ink\, water\, and paper. Rooted in centuries-old t
 echniques inspired by classical Chinese painting traditions\, this cours
 e emphasizes mindfulness\, movement\, and the power of a single brushstr
 oke to capture the essence of nature—expressing the impression of plan
 ts\, flowers\, and bamboo with simplicity and grace. Participants will l
 earn how to load the brush effectively and apply both wet and dry brush 
 techniques to achieve depth\, texture\, and expressive strokes.\nBIO\nBo
 rn in Taipei\, Taiwan\, Chung-Fan Chang’s work explores her Taiwanese 
 and Chinese heritage\, displacement and Eastern aesthetic through painti
 ng\, works on paper\, video\, and wall installation. Chung-Fan Chang was
  the recipient of the 2022 Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Jer
 sey State Council on the Arts\; 2013-14 Visual Arts Fellow of the Missis
 sippi Arts Commission. Her “Kite” series of work has been exhibited 
 in galleries and museums nationally and internationally. Selected solo a
 nd group exhibitions include the Kite XIII: Emarginate (2024) at the Mon
 mouth Museum in Morristown\, NJ\; A Building with a View: Experiments in
  Anarchitecture (2016) at the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans\, L
 A\; the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta\, GA (2013). Ch
 ang’s curatorial project Shifting Momentum – Abstract Art from Taiwa
 n and the Noyes Collection\, was exhibited at the Taipei Cultural Center
  in New York\, NY and Noyes Museum of Art in Hammonton\, NJ (2018). Chun
 g-Fan Chang holds a BFA from Taipei National University of the Arts\, an
 d an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. Chang is an Associate 
 Professor of Art at Stockton University in Galloway\, New Jersey.
