In this class you will learn about the art of Nuno Felting to make a one of a kind scarf. This technique is relatively new, and was developed by an Australian fiber artist named Polly Stirling in 1992. Nuno is actually the Japanese word for cloth, and the technique binds fine merino wool fibers, into sheer fabrics (like hand dyed silk chiffon in this case) to create an extremely comfortable and light weight felted piece of wear able art.
Sara will guide you through the entire process from layout, felting, fulling and finishing. Get ready to try something new and use a lot of elbow grease! Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to stand for most of the class.
MATERIALS FEE, $10 is payable in cash, to Sara Setzer, for a hand painted silk scarf
Feel free to bring snacks and a drink.
Please bring 3 or 4 old beach/bath sized towels safely bring your scarf home.
