SUMMARY:Revisiting Rembrandt with Joanna Seidenstein
DESCRIPTION:Coinciding with LBIF's WORKS ON PAPER Exhibition Reception\,
  this talk will offer a behind the scenes look at the planning of a fort
 hcoming exhibition on Rembrandt van Rijn's lifelong interest in ancient 
 Greece\, Rome\, and the larger Mediterranean world.\n\nJoanna Sheers Sei
 denstein is Associate Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints a
 t The Metropolitan Museum of Art. In this role\, she is responsible for 
 Northern European drawings and prints from the Renaissance through the e
 arly twentieth century. Since starting in 2022\, she has co-curated vari
 ous permanent collection installations and the special exhibition Caspa
 r David Friedrich: The Soul of Nature on view in the spring of 2025. Sh
 e previously held positions at The Frick Collection and the Harvard Art 
 Museums\, where she curated and co-curated such exhibitions as Divine E
 ncounter: Rembrandt’s Abraham and the Angels (Frick\, 2017) and Cros
 sroads: Drawing the Dutch Landscape (Harvard\, 2022). Joanna is co-edit
 or of the volume Art Museums and the Legacies of the Dutch Atlantic Sla
 ve Trade: Curating Histories\, Envisioning Futures (Brill\, 2025). She 
 holds a BA from Vassar College and an MA and PhD from the Institute of F
 ine Arts\, NYU.\n\n&nbsp\;
