Dunes Jan 23Dr. Louise Wootton, Director of Sustainability at Georgian Court University is here to discuss her “Dune it Right” program.

“…During Hurricane Sandy, communities protected by larger, more well-established (vegetated) dunes suffered much less damage than did those lacking this important defense. It is thus vital that coastal communities build and restore healthy dunes to help protect their communities from future storm events”, explains Dr. Wootton. Dunes help protect our coastal communities from flooding and storm damage. As the work continues, it is especially important to have accurate information available to maximize the success of the dune restoration projects. Today you will gain knowledge and insight on the importance of dunes and natural dune communities and commonly asked questions about dune restoration will be answered.
