Come join Alaskan jewelry artist Ashley Lohr as she takes you through the process of torch firing enamel to create your own customized jewelry, the same jewelry that she will be displaying during this year’s Foundation Arts Festival! See her process and come be a part of it. During this workshop, Ashley will introduce the ancient art form of enameling to you. You will learn layering, stenciling, sgraffito, ombre, how to use frit with powder enamel, and how to use a handheld butane torch to heat and melt your metals. You will get the chance to work with copper, the metal base of your work, and powder enamel, your medium. Each workshop attendee will complete a few practices at their station before creating and completing at least one pair of earrings and one pendant! Sterling silver earring hooks and sterling silver chain will be provided to complete each piece of jewelry.
