*NEW* Fall Ceramic Handbuilding Workshop
In this 6-week class every Friday, join Instructor Mary-Kate for a new, special Ceramics Handbuilding workshop. Learn the basics of working with clay or improve your handbuilding skills. Enjoy a relaxed approach to learning how to handbuild while being guided through the step by step process. A morning or afternoon session will be available to register for. Clay will be available for purchase at the LBIF. Please Note: Space is limited and participation is on a first come first served basis.

Needle Felted Pumpkin with Deedie Weaver
Join Deedie Weaver for a real gourd time! In this needle felting workshop, you will learn the basics of needle felting and how to manipulate the needles, the wool and how the two interact. The pumpkins are needle felted with 100% sheep’s wool. Each pumpkin is about 3” high, not including the stems, and about 2 1/2” in diameter. It is up to you how to adorn your pumpkin. Your tool box will include everything needed plus some!

Macrame Free-Twist Plant Hanger Workshop
Join us for an exciting workshop where you’ll learn the art of macramé and create a beautiful plant hanger to enhance your home or garden for years to come. Using the softest macramé cord and a sturdy metal ring, this project is perfect for beginners and can be completed in just a couple of hours.
Things to Note:
Choose from Beige/Khaki Green or Beige/Cocoa colors. Please specify your color preference when signing up.
The plant hangers are designed to accommodate pots ranging from 4” to 8” in diameter.
Wooden beads are optional and will be available for an extra $2 for 4 beads.

Clay Figures with Diane Grimes
In this class, you will sculpt figurative clay sculptures using a live model. Professor Grimes has been teaching sculpture for over 20 years and studied sculpture at the Academy of Fines Arts.
She designed a unique way to create sculptures for all to begin as well as advanced students. She will go over proportions of the figure and how to construct the figure with two poses from the model using air drying clay! Your work will harden and be a finished sculpture!

Leather and Bead Cuff Style Bracelet with Jean Suleski

We will look at each participant’s natal chart to interpret the activation of the Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. All levels of astrological knowledge welcome! Sterling Silver Sea Glass Necklace: In this class, you will be guided and create a one of a kind sterling silver necklace with your very own piece of sea glass! Class includes a 20” sterling silver chain. Bring 3-4 of your own found sea glass pieces from which to choose. The best pieces for this project are flat, thick, dark in color, with rounded edges and no larger than 1” in overall size. *If you do not have any, some will be provided at class. The skills covered in this class include cutting, forming a bezel, filing and polishing, and optional oxidizing.

Pop Up Workshop: Art Journaling with Hannah Sands
In this workshop, you will walk away with a new way to explore your feelings and inner world through art. Have you been looking for creative outlets but
feel intimidated by “making art”? Do you love collaging or feel interested in learning more about it? This class is an accessible way for you to tap into your creativity, even if you don’t identify as an artist.
Art journaling is a form of self-reflection and a creative outlet with the intention of not creating something to be consumed by others, but something that can help us learn more about ourselves. There is no one way to create through art journaling, all levels are welcome.

Learn to Block Print - Tote Bag Workshop
Learn how to block print a tote bag with Lauren Rothstein of Beach Block Prints! Each participant will be able to choose from several, provided, beach themed pieces of artwork. You will then learn how to transfer, carve, and print your artwork onto a cotton tote. This workshop is a fun way to get acquainted with different printmaking techniques - no printmaking knowledge is required and beginners are welcomed! All you need to bring is your creative mind and a desire to learn a new skill!
Participants will leave the workshop with their own hand carved block and a custom hand printed tote bag. Printmaking can be messy, so make sure you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting inky!

Mala Beading with Krista Eggering
Join Krista Lynn as she takes you through the spiritual and intuitive process of creating your own mala beads. The Mala is a strand of beads traditionally used for counting during meditations. Today, many people wear their Mala as a necklace or bracelet as a reminder of their personal and spiritual intentions. Making your own Mala Beads infuses your energy into the beads and encourages you to have a mindful experience in connection to the power of intention. You will learn the meaning of Mala Beads, how to use them and the spiritual meanings behind the stones you chose. Akoya Pearl Bangle Bracelet: In this class, we will make a sterling silver hammered bangle bracelet with an Akoya Pearl. You will have your choice of pearl color, including black, white, wine, or green. Choices are first come, first serve. Take a Master Class: Patterns, Patterns, and more Patterns with Jane Zamost
All around us we see patterns whether it be in nature, on our clothes, in our homes and perhaps, unbeknownst to our conscious selves, these patterns soothe us. They speak to us in subliminal ways. Join Jane Zamost in this mixed media workshop as she guides you through recognizing the joy of creating those patterns that we connect with everyday. Materials can include magazines, stationery, newspaper, tissue paper, gift wrap, nature, etc.

Artist Bio:
Jane Zamost is a painter and mixed media artist intrigued with the healing arts and its profound effect on the human spirit. She has gained community recognition for her involvement in the healing arts leading workshops and creating artworks that inspire optimism, calm and social justice. Formerly, Jane Zamost was the Healing Arts Program Coordinator at Capital Health, one of the founding partners of LUX Gallery and in her earlier career, Senior Vice President at Projects In Knowledge, a medical education/communications company.
Jane’s works have been exhibited in five solo and, more than seventy two-person and group exhibits based in the United States and Canada. Her works can be viewed on the TV show Househunters, film “Hide,” Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, Greece, the web site ArtSpan Contemporary Art, www.JaneZamost.com, and in private, corporate and hospital collections in the United States including nearby Capital Health (Pennington and Trenton hospitals) and Englewood Health in north Jersey.
Pop Up Workshop: Drawing and Mindfulness with Diane Grimes
Join Diane Grimes, professor of art, as she instructs a unique drawing course that incorporates using mindfulness while exploring a variety of drawing materials and drawing techniques. This course is open to all, as all can draw! Beginners to advanced are welcome!
Diane has over 30 years background in teaching drawing. She most recently published a textbook, The Joy of Drawing: A Mindfulness Approach, that is used on university level.
Figure Drawing with Brian
Figure Drawing will cover the basics of observational figure drawing, focusing on gesture and motion, introductory anatomy, modeling the human form through an understanding of light and shadow, and capturing movement and emotion in 2D artwork. Students will draw extensively from the nude (and sometimes draped) live female and/or male model. All serious artists, beginner through advanced, are welcome to participate (students under the age of 18 years must have signed permission forms from their parent/guardian). Each class session will consist of a variety of poses, from quick gestures, to longer studies. There will be individualized instruction and group critique. Students can expect a very positive, fun, casual and nurturing class environment. Life drawing is a fundamental skill that has been a core foundation of art education for centuries. It helps art students to develop observational skills, a sense of proportion and perspective, and attain an understanding of the human form, anatomy and physical expression.
