LBIF offers a wide range of ceramics classes and workshops for all skill levels including the very beginner to the most advanced. Twice a year the LBIF hosts week-long workshops with renown artists for our Visiting Artist Series.

Fee $500/LBIF Member $450

Ceramic Summer Resident $375

This course will focus on the wood firing process, utilizing the LBIF wood/soda kiln, giving participants hands-on experience in all aspects of the firing process. Students will bring their cone 10 bisque ware and we will load the kiln on Monday. Taking shifts, we will work as a team to explore the many details that go into a successful wood firing. While the kiln cools, demonstrations in the studio will include wheel throwing, altering techniques, and combining handbuilt thrown components. Further discussion topics include aspects of wood firing and soda firing as well as kiln building considerations. On the last day we will unload the kiln together, providing an essential opportunity to absorb the information from the firing.
