Saving the Bay Islands by Angela C. Andersen, Sustainability Director, Long Beach Township

This session will focus on how we can save the Islands that are saving the bay. We will discuss the importance of the “edge” will tell about the importance of the islands in the bay and what is being done to save them from the never-ending erosion. The session includes a “non-technical” introduction to an internet tool that will help you visualize what is happening. This presentation will be live, on Zoom. Angela Andersen has been the Sustainability Director for Long Beach Township for 10 years and manager for the Townships new Marine Education Field Station in Holgate which will showcase education and real time science on bay island restoration work. She is a founding member of the NJ Bay Island Initiative - a collaborative of agencies individuals and organizations that launched the Bay Island Restoration Planner tool to aid in the understanding and implementation of marsh and bay island restoration work.
