Explore the Summer Camp Class Descriptions to discover the wide range of creative, scientific, and specialty programs offered at LBIF. Each class is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, encourage hands-on learning, and help campers build skills, confidence, and friendships, making every week of summer a new adventure.
Each week our morning camps focus on a theme for the week and an exhibition on Fridays to showcase the camper experience.
Campers who want a full day experience can join our Lunch Bunch crew by bringing a packed lunch before their afternoon programs.
Morning Camps
ART CAMPS
AGES 3-4 | Tiny Tykes

An inviting and inspiring environment that offers everything a child needs to enrich time away from home and introduce learning quality life skills through stimulating activities. The morning includes unique art projects, group stories & games, nature walks and time on the playground.

AGES 7-12 | Creative Arts and Crafts

A creative experience involving both individual and collaborative projects that foster independence, confidence, and exploration. CAC is made up of 4-5 different studios where campers rotate throughout the day, working on a theme-based project that is completed by the end of each week. Studio stations include ceramics, painting, 2D art, and mixed media. Often, a Visiting Artist will work with campers, creating a specialty project based on their own expertise.
AGES 12-16 | Teen Arts

A small group art experience for teens focused on creative exploration and hands-on practice. This studio environment allows campers to explore their artistic interests through a variety of media, while building technique and cultivating their unique creative voice. Perfect for all skill levels.
SCIENCE CAMPS
The activities in this camp primarily take place outdoors. It is strongly recommended that all science campers wear sunscreen and bug spray, as well as a hat, water shoes, and appropriate clothing for exploring the marsh and bay. Please apply all sunscreen and bug spray before arriving at camp.
Through a new sponsorship with Conserve Wildlife, campers will have the opportunity to learn about New Jersey’s wetlands, marshes, and bays alongside environmental scientists and wildlife experts with a visit each Monday. You can find out more about Conserve Wildlife HERE.
AGES 7-9 | Nature Studies

This camp is for the curious mind who loves to explore outdoors. Our science classroom serves as a home base. Daily, campers will have the opportunity to spend time on our beautiful bayside property and sometimes the beach, learning about local ecosystems, the important role they play, and why protecting them matters.

Join us for a fun-filled week of exploration and discovery. This program provides field experience for young scientists to explore the flora and fauna of LBI. Using the bay, beach, and salt marsh as a living classroom, students collect and classify specimens, test water quality, and learn all about the environment around them.
PERFORMING ARTS CAMPS
AGES 8-13 | Theater Camp

Sing, dance and draw inspiration from the beloved world of Zootopia, discovering how every character from the smallest to the biggest brings something irreplaceable to the stage. Led by our award winning director Kathy Renna, campers of all levels will develop the skills in character work, vocal projection, ensemble performance skills, choreography and creative problem solving through theatrical storytelling.
This camp culminates with a performance for friends and family on Friday.
Campers should dress comfortably, and bring a snack and water bottle to class daily.

Theme: KPop Demon Hunters

Join the high-energy, electrifying world of K-Pop Demon Hunters, where fierce heroes battle darkness armed with nothing but their talent, teamwork, and unstoppable stage presence. Every character has a power, every performer has a role, and together the ensemble becomes something truly legendary.
Led by our award-winning director Kathy Renna, campers of all levels will develop skills in character work, vocal projection, ensemble performance, high-energy choreography, and creative storytelling as they bring this action-packed world to life.
This camp culminates with a performance for friends and family on Friday.

Week 5: July 20 – 24
Theme: Moana
Ages 8-13

Set sail into the breathtaking world of Moana, where the ocean calls and one fearless voyager discovers that the greatest adventure begins when you trust yourself. What better place to bring this story to life than right here on the shores of Long Beach Island, where the sea is never far and the island spirit runs deep.
Led by our award-winning director Kathy Renna, campers will develop skills in character work, vocal projection, ensemble performance, flowing movement and choreography inspired by the rhythms of the ocean, and creative storytelling as they bring this beloved world to life.

AGES 7-12 | Contemporary Dance

Join Daria Ragusio to discover the joy of movement through contemporary dance; a dynamic fusion of ballet, modern, and jazz that connects body and mind. This camp invites dancers to explore floor work, release techniques and improvisation while building confidence and finding their own unique voice. Through collaborative choreography and creative play, dancers will develop skills in a supportive environment that celebrates self-expression and friendship. The week culminates in a special performance for families to showcase what our dancers have created together. Note: this camp is held in the Main Gallery.
AGES 5-6 | Beth & Scott’s Music and Nature Adventure

LBIF’s favorite camp musical duo is back! With over 30 years of experience working with young children, Beth and Scott continue to share the joy of nature and its connection to art, music, dance, and play. Campers will begin their day taking in the beauty and rhythms of the natural world, with engaging walks to the bay and along the LBIF nature trail. Your child’s musical camp experience will continue with the remainder of the day filled with joyful singing, dancing, and playing percussion.
AGES 4-8 | Ballet with Jessica Kilpatrick

Week 8: August 10 – 14
Theme: The Wizard of Oz!
Join Jessica Kilpatrick for a magical and adventurous week making new friends, crafting art, creating dance and bringing o life the beloved story of The Wizard of Oz! We’ll travel down the yellow bird road, dance through the poppy fields, and meet unforgettable friends along the way: the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. From sparkling Emerald City celebrations to outsmarting the Wicked Witch, dancers will leap, twirl, and imagine their way through this timeless journey, ending the week with a special performance for family and friends.
Campers should dress comfortably, and bring a snack and water bottle to class daily.

Week 9: August 17 – 21
Theme: Wicked
Join Jessica Kilpatrick for a dazzling and high-spirited week making new friends, crafting art, creating dance, and stepping into the extraordinary world of Wicked. We’ll arrive at Shiz University, discover unlikely friendships, and explore the story of Glinda and Elphaba as they learn what it means to be true to themselves. From glittering ballroom dances to moments of bravery and wonder, dancers will jump, turn and express their way through this unforgettable adventure, ending the week with a special performance for family and friends.
Campers should dress comfortably, and bring a snack and water bottle to class daily.

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM
Offered all 9 weeks

A two-week minimum commitment is required.
This camp is application-based and perfect for the teen who has been a camper with us, wants to become a summer counselor at 16 and/or who wants to learn leadership and interpersonal skills.
Learning Skills: CIT campers will learn how to work with children and co-workers, plan activities, interact professionally with many populations as well other valuable skills a camp counselor needs.
Responsibilities include: Leading group activities, monitoring the playground, assisting teachers and counselors. Interested? Fill out the application HERE.
Afternoon Camps
AGES 10-16 | Adventures in Clay

Get ready to get muddy! Join us for a 3-day, hands-on-the-wheel throwing adventure. In a small, supportive group, campers will learn share studio time learning the stages of clay, centering, throwing, and trimming. We’ll also explore surface decoration techniques from underglazing, to sgraffito and appliqué, so each piece feels uniquely yours. All pieces will be finished with a clear glaze. All materials included. Just bring your creativity and be ready to spin!
AGES 4-16 | Tennis Camp

Join fellow campers and make new friends with this great opportunity for exercise, skill building, and fun! Tennis Camp is open to morning campers that would like to extend their day and develop or advance their tennis technique. Each week, the LBIF Tennis Pros will guide campers through skill-building games and drills with a focus on fun! Campers will be split into small age-appropriate groups based on ability level to allow for group interaction and individualized attention. No experience necessary. Racquets are provided or campers may bring their own.
AGES 8-15 | Fishing Camp

Campers brand new to fishing or with experience will enjoy this weeklong fishing adventure with Coach Brock Silvestri. This camp takes place in the classroom on campus and offsite on certain days. Campers will get the chance to fish daily for various species as well as learn the basics and keys to fishing including:
- Types of tackle (rods, lines, lures, bait, hooks, etc.)
- Knot tying
- Casting
- Rigging up
- Hooking/releasing a fish properly
- Rules/regulations
*Bringing your own pole is recommended.
AGES 5-15 | AfterCamp

The perfect second act for families who want to extend their day.
After the final brushstroke, curtain call or bay walk, LBIF AfterCamp keeps creative energy flowing. This choice based program, led by Coach Brock Silvestri and his assistants, will have campers choosing between hands-on activity stations, collaborative projects, open studio time, outdoor adventures and good old-fashioned play. No two days are the same!
Campers will be placed in age appropriate groupings.

Aloha Girls has teamed up with New Jersey’s first Surf School, LBI Surfing, to empower girls to discover their inner surfer, develop a lifelong love for the ocean, and make LBI memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!
Aloha Girls will enhance their surf and skateboarding skills while building confidence through a mix of activities including surf sessions, yoga, art, journaling, skateboarding, Skimboarding, bodyboarding and more!

Learn to Surf on LBI!
Get the kids ocean ready as they learn the basics of surfing with our introductory 4 day camp. Students are guaranteed to stand up with our safe one on one instruction while in the water.
- This is our camp for first time surfers, absolute beginners eager to learn to surf in a fun environment with LBI’s longest running surf programs.
- Campers learn about safety, ocean awareness, paddling techniques, positioning, and surfing etiquette.
- Boys and Girls are grouped together for a week of beach fun with our coed team of enthusiastic coaches. Campers meet at our surf shop for a meet and greet and to get sized for wetsuits each day. Each day begins with some basic yoga for surfing stretches followed by the safety and new water skills of the day before we walk to the beach to test out those skills and get our campers water-ready!
- Monday and Tuesday students are introduced to ocean safety and how to manage their equipment so that riding waves and paddling out are done in a safe manner. An experienced lifeguard will visit the kids at the shop to talk about the importance of swimming techniques, rip currents, and water safety. An experienced rep from the Surfrider Foundation will speak to the campers about the protection and enjoyment of our beach and ocean.
- Wednesday and Thursday “We ride the waves!” Campers meet at the selected surf shop to get fitted for wetsuits and then head to the beach to meet their coaches.
- LBI Surfing coaches help students apply those skills to the ocean in our tested and proven model of surfing success!
- One on one instruction while in the water with fun beach games, bodyboarding, relay races, and much more!!
What to bring: Campers should wear swimsuits, bring sunblock, a towel, rash shirt and a snack (we sell at the shops) and be ready to learn with the best coaches in LBI!

Girls are grouped together by age and skill level. Boys are also grouped together by age and skill level so that friends can be made and students can learn on the same level. From learning to paddle on your own for your first waves, to more advanced students who are working on strengthening their turns or performance surfing, the professional team of coed coaches at LBI Surfing will give you the tools to become strong independent surfers. Each day begins with some basic yoga for surfing stretches followed by the safety and new water skills of the day! All equipment is provided upon check in each day at the shop.
LBI’s top coaches help campers strengthen their skills in the ocean and start to paddle for their own waves by the end of camp. Our campers refine their techniques and work with their coaches on positioning and comfort level in bigger waves! Campers will work on turning, riding down the line ahead of the curl, and become independent surfers while meeting new friends.
Students will learn about and try different equipment provided by LBI Surfing, learn about ocean safety, and how to become stronger surfers in all surf conditions. Campers will be divided up at the start of camp by age and surfing experience.
Surfboards and wetsuits are included and provided at the LBI Surfing shops! This is a 4 day camp for kids that have already been introduced to surfing and are ready to take their skills to the next level with New Jersey’s premier surf school!
Guest experts to speak at camp each week: An experienced lifeguard will visit the kids at the shop to talk about the importance of paddling techniques, surf forecasting, rip currents, and water safety. An experienced rep from the Surfrider Foundation will speak to the campers about the protection and enjoyment of our beach and ocean. We will also have a rep from Mick Fanning Surfboards to talk to the campers about different board shapes and options that they can demo at surf camp each day, along with discounts on boards and wetsuits for campers!!
Campers only need to bring sunblock and a smile!
*If they don’t have surfing experience yet, that is ok, please enroll them in the Little Fish Intro to Surf Camp first, to get them ready for our Junior Surf Camp.
